The El Paso Hash House Harriers:
"A Drinking Club with a r*nning Problem"

Frequently Asked Questions

What's with all the funky nicknames?
-- Once you complete 5 or 6 hash trails, you will be given a more appropriate name--one that's easier to remember.  Who cares what your "real" name is anyway?

Where and when do the hash trails start?
--Check the Hareline for all the latest info or call the hotline at (915) 857-1687.

How do I join?
--Just show up at the start point.

What do I need to bring?
--Yourself and a sense of humor (yes, a crappy sense of humor is better than none at all).  If it's hot that day, you may want to consider bringing some water or whatever else you think you might need, as we may be running around for awhile like idiots before we find the beer.  In short, bring whatever makes you comfortable; we're just here to have a good time.

What does it cost?
--All hashers (except first-timers) pay $4.00 per hash to help defray the cost of the beer.  Heck, nowadays 4 bucks is only worth about 12 cents anyway.

I like to drink beer, but I'm not a very good runner. Is hashing for me?
A:  Yes.  Our trails are designed to confound the Front-Running Bastards, thereby giving the slower folks a chance to keep up.  Our goal (not always met, but it's our goal nevertheless) is for the whole pack to finish together.  Some hashers walk, some jog, and some run, but they all have a good time.

I'm a world-class marathoner who can leap tall buildings in a single bound, but I don't like beer. Is hashing for me?
--Yes, but why someone would ever turn down a beer is beyond me...

What happens at a typical hash run?
--The group of hashers (the "hounds") follow a trail of chalk and flour over hill and dale until they get to the beer.  When they get to the beer, they drink it.  And it was good, and there was much rejoicing...

What if I like my nice, comfy couch and I wanna  hash, but I never seem to get around to it?
--Then you're missing out on a good time.  Sorry, but them's the breaks...

I'm thinking about showing up for a hash trail at some point in the future, but I'm just not sure...
--Well, if you've half a mind to hash, that's all you need...On-On!
